HCL Pupils Choice Extra – Summer-Autumn Menu
 
Hertfordshire Catering Ltd (HCL) is our school lunch provider. HCL take pride in the meals they serve, their meals are packed with great and tasty ingredients to help your child really enjoy lunchtimes at school.

Eating the right balance of healthy, tasty food helps all children to learn and develop. Choosing a school meal will give your child the chance to try new foods and to enjoy eating with their friends, whilst tucking into delicious meals packed full of the energy and essential nutrients they need to grow and learn.

Our daily menu offers a choice of food for all pupils (and staff) as we have the pupils extra choice menu, so there’s always something to tempt even the most sensitive taste palate!

HCL have a rigorous process in place to provide a safe meal service to pupils with food allergies or intolerances, if your child has a food allergy or intolerance and meets the qualifying criteria, then HCL have a range of delicious and nutritious menus designed especially for your child’s medical requirement.

Dinners for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes can have a school dinner at no charge under the government UIFSM (Universal Infant Free School Meal) scheme.

If you feel you may qualify for income related free school meals for any year group it is easy to apply on-line at www.hertsdirect.org/freeschoolmeals or by phone on 0300-123-4048 and this may also provide additional benefit within school.

School dinner prices from 1st April 2023 are £3.15 per day.

If you pay for school dinners you must have credit on your account to cover the cost. To pay for dinners we use the schoolgateway app (or cash) but we do NOT accept cheques.

Milk and Fruit

Milk is available to Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children. If you wish your child to have milk, this must be ordered and paid for in advance. Nursery children are not charged for milk. Children whose families are eligible for free school meals are not charged for milk. Letters containing further information will be sent out towards the end of each term.

The Government provides all Nursery and Infant pupils with a free piece of fruit or vegetable each day for morning snack. Junior pupils may purchase fruit for a small sum of money, payable by the term. Key Stage 2 children who are eligible for free school meals may participate in the scheme free of charge.
